Being aware of the needs of More Able children is highly valued within Lochinver House School. The pupils are continually monitored and assessed to ensure that they are stretched and challenged within their particular strengths and skills, be they academic, creative, musical or sporting.
A broad, differentiated curriculum is provided within the school to suit all interests and levels of ability. This is carried out at the discretion of the class teacher or subject teacher, with all pupils encouraged to become independent learners. Further More Able provision involves extending and enriching subjects already on offer to all pupils.
Our More Able register is continually monitored and updated and inclusion on the register reflects the current needs and relative abilities of individual pupils. Pupils may move on and off the register, as their circumstances change.
Lochinver House also recognises the pupils’ talents, which cover a wide spectrum both in and out of school. Past and present pupils have achieved huge success in fencing, chess, musical theatre, football academies, skiing and golf, as well as inter-school competitions.
