Inside Out Day
Children’s Mental Health Week
To mark the start of Children’s Mental Health Week at Lochinver House, the boys enjoyed their second, annual breakfast together in their form and classrooms. Once again, the unmistakable aroma of fried bacon greeted the senses in the corridors leading to Mrs Barry’s classroom, as the boys cooked their meaty rashers over a Bunsen Burner!
This year, Lochinver House is also supporting ‘Inside Out Day’. This new initiative, whereby staff and boys wear an item of clothing inside out, is a way of making everyone stop and think that whilst someone may look fine on the outside, they may be feeling sad or worried on the inside. Inside Out Day is also intended to remind us all to be kind and think of others at all times as none of us know how another person might be feeing. It was wonderful to hear so many discussions taking place over breakfast about emotional well-being throughout the School.
At Lochinver House, we strive to help our boys to have healthy minds by encouraging them to talk about their feelings and the challenges they are facing and by equipping them with the skills that they need to cope with obstacles that they will inevitably encounter throughout their lives.
